Led by the esteemed Dilawar Khan, a maestro in traditional and Sufi music, the group carries forward a musical legacy passed down through generations.

Hailing from Kotra, Barmer, Dilawar Khan embarked on his musical journey at the tender age of 6-7, under the mentorship of his maternal uncle, Ustad Ghafoor Khan, a National Award-winning musician. His passion and dedication have earned him a special place in the hearts of music lovers across India and beyond.

Rajasthan’s folk music is a journey of sound crafted through traditional instruments. Each instrument carries the rich heritage of the desert, connecting stories from one generation to another.

Sarangi – An Instrument that Touches the Soul

A traditional string instrument from Rajasthan, which resembles the human voice. Played by the Manganiyar and Langa communities, it consists of three main strings and several sympathetic strings that produce deep and emotional music.
Fun Fact: 'Sarangi' means "one that contains all colors."

Khartaal – A Vibrant Celebration of Rhythm

A percussion instrument made from two or four wooden pieces held in hand and played with rapid speed and energy. It is commonly used in dance and singing.
Fun Fact: Playing Khartaal requires strength in the hands and a deep understanding of rhythm.

Morchang – The Echo of the Desert

A small iron mouth harp producing hypnotic sounds that echo across the desert nights.
Fun Fact: Also called the “Jew’s Harp,” it is popular in Nepal and Mongolia as well.

Dholak – The Pulse of Rhythm

A two-headed percussion instrument played with hands. One head produces a deep, resonant sound, while the other gives a sharp, rhythmic tone.
Fun Fact: Its beat is recognized by every Indian from childhood.

Tambura – The Soul of Melody

A string instrument that provides drone in music. It typically has 4 to 5 strings and helps maintain the purity of the melody.
Fun Fact: It continuously produces the same tone, which forms the foundation of Indian classical music.

Ravanhatta – The Storytelling Instrument

An ancient string instrument made from a coconut shell, bamboo, and horsehair. Used by Bhopa folk singers to narrate folk tales.
Fun Fact: It is believed to have been created by Ravana, hence the name “Ravanhatta.”
